Ricoh are plagued by corrupt PCL and PS jobs causing SC errors, if you see a lot of SC899 or 9xx in the logging data then you have a corrupt print job in the queue. Updating the firmware is all you can do, if it still occurs you could send a capture of the print to Ricoh for analysis.
thanks but now ive found out it does it on copy as well, is the corrupt prnt job the cause still?
im replacing the prnt controller today but if its in the copy as well im not sure this will fix it
ill check the job log.
Thanks
I'm pretty sure replacing the controller will make no difference. Go into SP modes and check what SC codes have been registered when the functional restart occurs. It will probably be something to do with process control.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
If it's showing functional error on screen with a series of slow moving dots before it finally restarts, my money is on the itb assy. Most likely you will need to dissasemble and clean out unit, replace belt and you may even have to PM the pcus. The SMC report should give away the sc code related to the error. You just cant take any shortcuts with these machines, everything needs to be spot on for them to be reliable.
Many SC899 codes that only come up when printing are due to printing from a web page that has a URL longer than 63 characters. It's a bug that has been addressed recently with new firmware across multiple models, so make sure that you have the latest. That last 2 calls I had for this was when the user was printing a brochure from a Verizon web page (http://verizon.com/......./.../brochure). One account was a Verizon office, the other a law office. Another tech experienced this when the user was printing from a particular Comerica web page.
Now this machine has a error
sc 876-05 nvram or hd bad....
Can i do a hd format and clear this up? i dont think the nvram would just go bad but you never know
Im having this machine replaced if this cant be dealt with.
oh and thanks
