Re: Aficio1022 - Error Code SC541.....then Error Code SC542
Double-checked all 4 thermal fuses individually & collectively with ohm-meter. The series of all 4 fuses was way less than 1 ohm.

double check your thermistor if it is contact with hot roller, sometimes this things, often forgotten..Leave a comment:

Yes.
and this Link will show you an image of the thermostat... It is basically a thermal fuse.
Part number for the 1022 thermostat is B0274095, although you can reset the thermostat by giving it a sharp WHACK off a table.
If the thermostat is concave it has been tripped... convex and it is ok
Hope this helps
Well, here's the story: 2 out of the 4 thermal fuses were tripped. While I was diassembling fuser, I noticed a lot of frayed & broken plastic inside (mainly around the rollers.) I put the fuser back together & crossed my fingers. STILL getting SC542 err. I've gotta funny feeling I'm going to have to replace the whole fuser in lieu of all the damage to the plastic frame inside.
Any recommendations as to reliable replacement outlets & estimated costs?
P.S. - You guys did a GREAT job leading me through this troubleshooting!Leave a comment:

Checked & cleaned all contacts in fuser. Checked DC resistance of thermisters @ contacts where fuser plugs into copier: both about 430 kOhms. Also checked DC resistance of both drum heaters: both about 2 Ohms.
Is fuser lamp(s) the drum heaters? Also, what is the thermostat you refer to?

The best I can figure is that 1 or both thermisters is/are bad. Considering that I ordered them from [cheap] Hong Kong, this may be the case?Leave a comment:

Questions:
1: When you say you "cleared all error codes". Do you mean that you ran SP7807?
Because it doesn't actually clear the current SC, it simply resets the SC History on the machine.
SC5810 resets the SC
2: When you checked the lamps, do you mean for continuity or just visually? They are either good or not.Leave a comment:

Hit the thermostat on the table if is open circuit and should work-just for testing purposesLeave a comment:

Open thermostat, loose connection, or open fuser lamp. When detected during operation, it will give SC541. When detected on power, SC542.Leave a comment:

Aficio1022 - Error Code SC541.....then Error Code SC542
I've been working on a Ricoh Aficio 1022 copier. The fuser unit gave me an SC541 error. So, I replaced both thermisters in the fuser with new ones (verified correct OEM MPN.) Then, after clearing all error codes from memory, I rebooted machine and received SC542 error code. Whats up with this?
I checked both heater elements inside the fuser drum, but they both appear to be okay. There is no visible evidence of worn bearings or anything out of the ordinary except excess toner stuck to the "feelers" that are spring-loaded against the fuser drum. These I cleaned, but no help.
Any ideas?
