Hi! I had the same for 4 or 5 times. Once on a c2051 with 8000 pages total counter. I don't know why but the damage is always operation side.

I've only ever seen one and it's because the customer used a pair of scissors (?!?!?!?!) to clear a jam. Is the PTR unit broken? Could be it's not sitting correctly and catching the belt.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

The belt unit is sitting correct.... We have 5 machines with exact the same problem, at this point i think its a probel with the assy that cuts the belt. Bit only operator side.... Strange

Is it in the same place every time? Something must puncture the belt, that will under the tention, tear.

A tech recently thought he was clever (read lazy!) and used a ruler and cloth the clean the ID sensors. The end of the ruler caused dents in the belt and the next thing there was a tear in the belt!

Its almost on the same place, always operator side, i think there is some kind of unequal torsion on the belt, that tears the belt OP side.....its not normal that so many machines have all exact the same problem........once it can be the customer or in your case a Tech with a ruler (lol)....but what about the rest of the machines?'???

Check the Waste bottle/ cleaning unit on the left hand side its probably something either in or near it that's caused this I've never had a Belt rip like that and we have machines with over 1 million prints with the same belt we always replace both waste bottles when it asks for the one on the front.
