Sorry to add to this, but I'm also getting an SC 873 error. Related? If so, any suggestions?

sc 873 is an HDD mail transfer error
you can try a SP5-832-008 to Initialize the HDD partition...might be a bad hdd

Thanks for all your help guys. I think it's time for a tech, because I believe that may be over my head (unless it's a simple procedure to initialize SP5-832-008)?

I agree, the email setup does not appear in the WIM screen shot that you attached. Usually that means that scan is not installed, but on the MPC 5000 is is imbedded and not an option. Try using the front panel of the MPC. "User Tools" - "System Tools" - "File Transfer". Otherwise, check the service manual and see if there is a SP setting to disable scanning.

I would think that this HDD error is also the reason that the Email button is not available on the WIM in order to enter the appropriate Mail server settings, etc. (which you DO need to enter). Whatever the case, until you resolve the HDD issue, scanning of any type will not be possible.

As for your original post saying "menu level protect" - level 2 in the scanner initial settings...this is the default setting . Ignore it.

              Hey guys,

I just did an SP5-832-008 (I'm an IT guy, not a copier guy but figured it out).

Everything is working great! The email tab is now under configuration and I'm back on track. I've also made a contribution to the site for everyone help.

Hope this thread will help anyone in the future. Cheers!

Though of one other thing. Normally when Administrator Authenication is all off, then menu protection is also disabled. However, if menu protect had been previously been setup and then Administrator Authenication turned off, the machine will still display the old protect level.
                1. Enable Administrator Authenication
                2. Login in as admin
                3. Set menu protection to disabled
