    [Misc] Charge Roller

    Hi all
Just noticed a thread on the site stating that it was possible to buy MPC 3000 charge roller assy from a company in America, just wondered if there was a supplier here in the UK

You don't need to replace them at all. At set up we remove the charge rollers and apply Meguire's cleaner wax. Apply it just like you were waxing your car. (Aplly with a clean, soft cotton towel or wipe, buff the residual wax off and away you go). By doing this we routinely get 160 to 180k out of our PCU's. The charge roller will outlast the blade and drum by doing this little trick. N/A Trading mekas up a bottle chrage roller cleaner for IKON but you can get it by ordering 50.00 or more from them. You have to call and ask for it but they will sell it. It's pretty much just like Meguires cleaner wax in the red bottle. It works on all charge rollers.

                    Hi all.
Thanks for the replies, part of the problem is the cleaning roller wears or falls apart when you try to clean it so the charge roller dirties quicker and with most customers every penny is a prisoner just now, one wont even replace their touch panel but prefers to prod & prod at it.

We also use the NuFinish wax we have used it for a while to wax drum and blades for black and white pms, I do use it from time to time on these color machine charge rollers, best to remove the springs on the cleaning roller so it drops out of the way or put paper between them so you dont rub felt stuff off the roller.

However from november to april i live in iowa and the weather is cold and very dry during winter and it wreaks havac on charge rollers the static in the air is aweful i spend a lot of time trying to keep charge rollers clean but after 1 attempt at cleaning if i have to come back i just replace the pcu otherwise it seems to be a reoccuring problem. would be nice if they sold just the charge roller but what do you do.

A reply to "Counsel"--I can vouch for putting the paper between the charge roller and the sponge cleaning roller...an absolute must!

I use cotton cleaning pads for waxing and polishing too!

Regarding someone mentioning earlier of touch screens not working, sometimes the touch screen overlay if it is not physically damaged, will have crap and crud stuck underneath the bezel around the edge. You can try to take the panel apart and clean all the junk out that is stuck around the edge which gives false finger touch signals. If you clean it, it *may* work. Make sure you recalibrate it! YMMV!

You should be able to the the touchscreen from Ricoh for free. They know they had a major problem with them and for a while were giving labour rebates but now just hand out free screens here in OZ.

Once the cleaning roller starts to deteriorate, it is time to replace the PCU. If it is maintenance customer, it will cost your boss less to replace it than to have a tech go out every week or o to clean the charge roller. If it a charge customer, give them an estimate to replace it and let them know that without replacement you cannot guarantee the cleaning of the charge roller and you will have to charge them every time that you come out to do so.
