SMB is SMB, no matter what flavour of Windows 7 you're using. You may want to try this:

Create a password protected user on the PC and use its credentials for scanning. You can enter the hostname as .\ as opposed to using the full name of the computer

Make sure that the network the computer is on is set as either Home or Work: the Public network setting will disable SMB.

Make sure everyone's favourite SMB killers Windows Live Essentials aren't installed, or at least see if there's an update for them.

      File and print sharing enabled?
Test with an ip vs pc name in case its a dns issue?
Virus software\firewall require an exception for the mfp?

I've run into 3 win 7 PC's over the past couple of years that no matter what i did, smb was a no go, and I had to go for FTP.
Most recent was about 6 months ago. I Setup an Mp3351, it worked for 24 hours, and then just quit. It was in an office with 4 Identical new PC's. The 3 others worked perfectly.
        I have no explanation.
        Just adding my 2 cents

The client was working under a restrictive homegroup. I created a new admin profile under workgroup, and all is well now. Thanks for the quick responses, guys. Now i have to figure out how to alllow shared scans folder access between the 2 different groups. Thats for another day. Everyone have a great weekend.
