Re: mp6002 jamming in adf only in scanner mode
OK so I have a similar problem with a MP6001 adf. Will not jam in SP free run, but randomly in copy/scan mode, J06 and J54. It crumples the paper just like the image earlier on in this thread. Motors, one way gears etc have all been changed though no boards as yet.
One thing I have noticed is that for the first 30 or so sheets it does a brief optical callibration every 5 sheets (CIS lamps lights) and after this reverts to every 10 sheets. The whole feed mechanism pauses for a fraction to allow this and then resumes and it is when this restart up happens that the jam occurs. Sometimes after 10 or 20, sometimes after 300-400.
Anyone noticed this with their jams?Comment

Re: mp6002 jamming in adf only in scanner mode
Well I've fixed mine! It was rather serendipitous mistake but it did the job!
When I first started fighting this problem I tried Dayer's suggestion and reduced the tension on the lower drive belt and it made no difference so I went looking for further issues. At Tech Supports suggestion I changed the Skew Correction Roller and the Pre-Scanning Roller with little enthusiasm as I've changed them before on another copier with no success. Then I put it all back together and, bugger me, it works!!
Since its now 4 PM on Friday arvo I just praised the photocopier gods and think myself lucky I'm going to get to go home on time for once. That was until I went to put the rear cover on the DF and discovered I hadn't put the belt tension spring back on, replace spring and... oh bugger, its jamming again! Reduce tension on the belt by half and it still jams, no tension at all and it runs perfectly!!
I can only assume that the motor isn't getting up to speed quickly enough when under load and it isn't turning the lower roller within the required millisecond time frame. I've ordered a new motor and will report on the results soon.Comment

Re: mp6002 jamming in adf only in scanner mode
That sounds a good temperary fix Dpoutz, I'll try it today as I've got yet another one playing up and it should keep the jamming down until a new motor arrive,At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.Comment

I too have this problem with several machines. 9002, 6002, 7502. Ricoh is no help. Act like this is the first time they ever heard about it. Any help would be much appreciated. I also have done all the stuff already mentioned.Comment

Re: mp6002 jamming in adf only in scanner mode
Ok my 10c. its been some time working on those.
I had problems with DF jams where the sensor flag does not return in time. So it would jam on 400X400 every time intermitantly on 300X300 and work problem free on 200X200.
So it seem the faster it runs the quicker the flag needs to pop back.WhateverComment

Replaced the motor on mine and it worked great for about two weeks, now we're right back to square one. I've changed the scanning resolution to get them by, but would love for Ricoh to come up with a fix.Comment

Re: mp6002 jamming in adf only in scanner mode
I know this sounds rather simple but there is a one way bearing in the roller that the feed belt rides on shaft side that can cause strange paper travel issues if it seizes even for a tick. After initial feed it needs to reverse and if it hangs at all it can result in timing issues down the line...have a hard time explaining why it does not show up in free run or copy mode though. Have had great success removing this roller from shaft and lubing with "super-lube" no jamming issue after.Comment
