    MPC 305 Fuser Gears

Had a call for bad noises on a mpc305 this week. Turned out that the fuser idle gear was stripped out. The machine only had 39k on it. Anyone else seeing this happen on the mpc305's????

No it was the brown idle gear that striped. It's between the white gear and the gear on the fuser roller.

Hei Tonerbomb, this happen with me all the time, sometimes early then 39k, see also in tray1 , in the back of tray has a black lever pn D1172817, this brake a lot too, if u don't have with u, take some to maintain in your car, the symptom are ,paper are not recognized in tray, even if has a lot of paper.

          Hi there!
Oh yes, the gears are really crap!!! Have them on the car (the only fuser-parts). If any other thing is broken, we change the complte unit. In Germany the whole unit is much cheaper then sleeve-roller or pressroller etc.
          Greetings...

            Re: MPC 305 Fuser Gears

Seen a few of these fuser gears fail now, I ordered the complete fuser unit, also today had the fuser drive gear in the back on the machine wear down, I've ordered the fuser drive unit complete, has anyone had to replace this, easy job????
These 305's seem to be a weak model.

The fuser gears are not good on this model. We have tried lube as well and it doesn't seem to help (makes a paste instead). Usually if you have one go out (get calls for jam/noise) you can flip over the one gear for a temp fix if you don't have gears on hand.

This is a weak model, and that fuser drive replacement is not an easy task. Much like the toner pumps you have to disassemble most of the machine to get to the fuser drive assy. Took me about half a day the first time out, can now do it in about 2.5 hours.

Looking at the manual, to replace the fusing motor looks fairly easy, says only need to remove the PSU?

But is replacing the fuser drive unit more difficult!?

                      Hi

If it is the one between the Hot roller gear and fusing drive gear, then it is this one:

                      AB012077 GEAR:IDLER:PRES SURE:Z17
                      Press the GREEN button!!

Removing PSU is a 2 hour job on this little cutie.
