hi guys, today i had to deal with an 2238c jam in the B spot according to the display (j001), the problem is that in that spot i found nothing instead of the fuser sensor loose, get it back to where it belongs and kept going, checked all the probable and inprobable spots, and i found paper in the transfer belt, removed it and the jam continues, check most of the sensors and the jam kept on harassing me.. so please, give me tips and hints of something i might had miss.

Check the paper feed rollers and clutches. This model used the old ribbed pickup rollers, which could collect a lot of dust. Even better would be to replace the rollers with the ones for the MP C4500, which are much more durable. Also, make sure the green end fences haven't broken, especially in that first tray.

A J001 jam is a "power on jam", so technically it's not related to paper feed but an interlock somewhere that is momentarily opening and closing during operation.Last edited by teebee1234; 03-26-2014, 01:03 PM.Comment

Doh, read it too fast and was thinking of something else. Still, an interlock is the culprit with this jam code.Comment

If you are shooting for the paper feed area of the first tray there are two one way bearings one is behind feedroller and is actually the gear drive for the pickup and the other is on the feed roller shaft on the feed unit by the clutch in the back. Also check the sep roller gears they will get stripped and cause feed miss timing jams. You can swap paper feed assy between trays as troubleshooting to see if issue follows certain tray.
Hope this helps good day.Comment

I do believe that a door micro switch or the interlock switch is faulty and causing the issue and to be more specific if it has a finisher check the bridge unit micro switch.

As teebee1234 said, J001 is a jam found at power on. The letter location is insignificant other than to show where the last actual jam occurred. Use SP 5803, Input Check to check all the jam sensor/switches to see which one is still showing as being activated. It is probably a scrap of paper on a sensor/sensor actuator, a sensor actuator knocked out of position or binding against a guide, of a bad sensor. SP 5803 will tell you which one.Comment

Take backup of M/c.. and do M/c memory clear. it will fix the problem. but it is temporary solution. this error may occur in feature again.. So you should check fuser unit. May be thermostat faulty......Comment
