Strange jamming issue. Paper fed from cassettes and from bypass copies fine but cannot exit into the sorter. All sensors have been cleaned and there is no obstruction in the paper path. Rollers in the exit assembly appear to be engaging and turning fine. Checked jam history and the regist reads 44 jams...tray 1 reads 36 jams..no fuser jams , no exit assy jams listed. Any advice appreciated. Problem occurred suddenly but nothing appears damaged or broken. Maybe a bad sensor.....but machine only has 20k copies.

Re: Ricoh mpc 2050 jamming before entering sorter
Are the jams at registration late 017 or lag 057? My guess is that it is 057 since the lead edge of the paper is past the fusing unit. This means that the trail edge of the paper does not leave the registration sensor when the machine thinks it should. Check that the paper length is set correctly.Comment

Re: Ricoh mpc 2050 jamming before entering sorter
Thanks for all the replies. Jam code in service mode was 24. Pointed to the paper never arriving at the exit sensor. Cleaned and replaced sensors and still not fixed. Upon closer inspection found that the flat extension of the white plastic solenoid lever that moves the black plastic guide (with the black teeth) was broken, which was sending the paper to the upper part of the paper exit assembly instead of exiting through the lower part as it was supposed to. Machine up and running again.sigpicAnything can be made to work if you fiddle with it long enough- San Diego Copier Repair.comComment
