    RICOH MPC 2500 SC 565

    Hello,
Two units of my MPC 2500( 110v) encountered this SC 565 error. I believe it should be Fusing unit issue but can someone help with more details?

Hot roller lamp stay on for more than 120 seconds.

    1. Check/replace Thermostat - 146c/147c (AW11 0055) and hot roller lamp.
    2. Replace PSU

    That's what Ricoh tells about.

    Goose tells this
    Code:
    [TABLE="width: 502"]
    [TR]
[TD]PR lamp consecutive on error - A level error, reset with SP5-810[/TD]
    [/TR]
    [TR]
[TD]PR lamp consecutive on error - Check harness wire ties at machine side of harness. Reports of wire ties crimping harness.[/TD]
    [/TR]
    [TR]
    [TD]PR lamp consecutive on error - check/replace thermistors, verify with SP1-106 001[/TD]

      Dear Skynetto,

Thanxs for the infor...actually i tried but I m run out of 110v thermostat....do u think 240v thermostat(for mp c2500 as well) will fit in?

The critical thing on thermistors is the temperature at which they open, the physical size and the way they connect.

All right...so u mean if i replace a 240V thermostats & thermistors into my 110V fusing unit should be fine, right.

            Thermostats?
On the other hand, I'd be inclined to check the thermistors first, too. A thermostat is unlikely to have much to do with the lamp staying on too long unless it was rated for a much higher temperature than what the original ones in the machine were, or it was shorted out. And even if that was the case, there would have to be something else involved too. Like an incorrectly installed hot roller thermistor (too far away from the hot roller), or the pressure roller thermistor had a blob of toner stuck to it or wasn't in contact with the roller. Or the fusing belt or pressure roller was worn out or the bearings were out of position.

              So...should i change a 240V thermister into a 110V fusing unit? no voltage issue?

I'd bet the tiny thermistor element on the press roller thermistor is loosen from it's metal/teflon plate

Every time I have this code on this model the pressure roller thermostat is blown and the pressure roller thermistor is dirty. It is possible to replace the thermostat without pulling the pressure roller, but you have to hold your mouth just right. I just did one of these yesterday.

You can easily remove the pressure roller thermostat by engaging the pressure levers, which just gives you enough room to remove the thermostat and its holder.

As the thermistor is supplied with a DC voltage from the power supply, I'd guess you would be OK as long as they are for the MP C2500 (they should even have the same part number). To the best of my knowledge, the DC voltage outputs from the power supply are the same no matter what the input AC voltage is.
As far as the thermostats go, be careful there. Theoretically, the thermostats from the 110 VAC machines and the 240VAC machines should have similar maximum temperatures, so there is a chance the ones you have could work. But if the ones for the 240VAC machine aren't the same size or shape as the ones in the 110VAC machine and don't fit properly, they won't work. The amount of space between the thermostat and the heat source is critical for protection from overheat errors.

yes... but a lot of other people might find it as very useful information ...they try to replace the thermistors or PCU (Ricoh Service Manual) on this Ricoh MPC2500, MPC3000 with error code sc565 which is a waist of time and money.
Fusing unit should be replaced at this point.

Why waste money on a complete fusing unit when the actual problem is an open thermostat caused by a bad thermistor. Use your meter and check the thermostat. If it is open order a new one along with the thermistor.
