    Ricoh C7105

It's a new model for me. I've got cyan toner puking out of it, clearly overtoning developer problem. I've already vacuumed up 1/2 cup of cyan toner from the lip below the developing cylinder, and it immediately filled up again.

As the guy who makes a big deal about reading the manual, I must say that I don't have the manual, but I'm working on getting it.

In the meantime, what's involved in doing the cyan developer stir, and a basic color calibration? Anything else I missed?
I noticed that it's got some sort of a drum ground modification to the image section cover. What's this intended to fix?
    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Oops! Yes it's a C7501, and it's got 234K black and 198K color on the counter. =^..^=

Ricoh has put out a number of bulletins on this beast puking toner. PM me if you need any Ricoh docs while Paul is in the hospital. See my attachment in the following thread: charis pro c5100 proc 5110 toner use and waste toner yield. It gives some settings that can help with some of the Ricoh color units.

Thanks slimslob, emo. This is a good start.

Every Ricoh I've ever worked on has overtoned. Long time Ricoh users get kinda used to the piles of toner on the paper, and cannot understand the concept of half-tones or white background. "You mean it's not supposed to be like braille?"

Any comments on the home-made drum shaft grounds? =^..^=

            Hi Black Cat,
and you thought busted ankles were painful, welcome to the terrifying world of the Ricoh Venus range!

These boxes are ho hum until you try to push them beyond their design limits, the moment they go past 40% colour ratio they turn in to toner spewing pigs.

No real answer to this ( well we haven't found one) apart from increase the PM cycle. We have a complete set of PCU's on the shelf ready to hot-swap so you don't spend hours in the customers office deafening them with the vacuum cleaner.

So chin up and soldier on and keep a spare filter cartridge for you vacuum on hand.

If you get really depressed about it you can hunt down the salesman that told them they could use it as a production machine and set light to his pubic hair.
Doesn't fix the copier but you will feel better.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

bc you can also PM me as I deal with these animals too!!

The homemade drum shaft grounds do help if made correctly, or option B is to buy the manufactured ones from NA Trading. The one's from NA work well, but are about $40. Pretty pricy, but they are copper................

So far, slimslob has pointed me in the direction of Bulletin D081/D082-035. To my surprise it worked like a charm, at least the first 4 or 5 steps. When I got to the part about engine firmware 1.06:06 I stopped, for fear of reversing the improvements I've seen so far.

                It's currently at firmware 1.04
I was delighted to leave it better than it started (I know it's temporary, but I'll take it). =^..^=

Um, I'm not familiar with that model, so maybe take this more as entertainment than service advice?
Back in the day, we found that on the 35/45 CPM machines sometimes the drum ground was lacking, and modified a common copper conduit mounting bracket to compensate for that. It would mount on one of the screws on the high voltage board, and needed to be taped up really well to avoid shorting things out. But when "reformed" correctly it would always contact the center of the drum drive shaft, and it did more good than harm.
