Aficio MPC6000 display is unreadable. Characters are all broken up. My guess would be the LCDC pwb but wanted to get confirmation before ordering it to see if it was correctable. If it is correctable in service mode then that could be a problem as the screen would be unreadable. Your advice is appreciated. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

Re: Aficio MPC6000 display is unreadable.....LCDC pwb?
Have you removed the control panel and checked to see if any wires are pinched or damaged?
Is the display scrambled in every mode. I.e. does it just happen in copy? or print and scan too?
You said characters are broken up. Does that mean that the images, buttons and layout look ok, or is the entire display just mashed?
Has someone poured their coffee all over it?
Never seen this fault myself, just having a good ol' guess with ricoh knowledgebase really. -
Re: Aficio MPC6000 display is unreadable.....LCDC pwb?
I have had the equivalent problem with a MP C2050 display and it was the LCDC PCB.Comment

Thanks for the input. All wires are okay. Looks like if you had a letter written and then someone used something to scratch off and through a lot of the characters. Happens in all mode screens. Thanks Gary. I think the LCDC is the most likely suspect but wanted input before ordering. FrankComment

Re: Aficio MPC6000 display is unreadable.....LCDC pwb?
I would try re-flashing the LCDC firmware first. I had a problem one time where the display looked like horizontal jitter. Ricoh tech support had me re-flash the firmware and that took care of the problem.Comment

Reseat all connectors (not just LCD) and clean all memory modules. Try swapping the control panel with another machine to see if the problem moves, if it does flash the firmware or replace the control.Comment

Re: Aficio MPC6000 display is unreadable.....LCDC pwb?
Hi Tim. Thank you for that. This may sound unforgivable but I am so ridiculously shallow when it comes to anything IT that is is embarrassing to ask questions like this. Does to reflash mean to reboot the firmware using a flash drive that has downloaded the firmware from the internet? Is it updated firmware? You also said specifically LCDC firmware so there is firm where just for that? Boy do i need a training course . I could check the manual to see the procedure but would appreciate a brief explanation of how it is done.
By the way Tim, in 1968 hitchhiked from California and passed through Bakersfield on way to old route 66 across America. I see we both started with the old liquid estat machines as you started in '72. You evolved a lot better and in tune with the connectivity which i never developed. Thanks again. FrankComment

Betting on Frimwar here is not a good bet, but it is free to try so go ahead and try it. After done messing with that, go ahead and replace the LCDC and be done with it.Comment

And if it is the firmware he still has a problem. Do the firmware first.Comment

Slim, like I said, do the firmware, then when that don't panout, do the display.
Then the dude should spend two hours cleaning out the pcu's on this POS.Comment
