Ricoh 470w

Hi all...

M having a problem with 470w when printing or copying im getting a smear on document. The machine is regularly serviced and all PM parts are in yield. It happens on all media and paper formats.

On your sample it is really hard to see a "smear" but I do see a lot of uneven copy density. I f this is the case try cleaning the underside of the lens. Even though it is serviced regularly this seems to be one thing most guys miss.

If it does in when printing and copying, I would look at a hesitation in the transport of the paper. Try different trays and the bypass to see if its related to ant particular paper source. Been a long time since I worked on wide body machines. Hope this helps.

Since it does it both when printing and copying, I would look for a dirty laser shield glass, dust or toner on the mirror and lenses in the laser or uneven distribution of the developer, possibly due to a dirty doctor blade.

the machine doesn't have a laser unit - it using LPD - Led Print Head. - clean or replace the corona wire and the grid wire.

Check the separation transfer unit to see if the guides over the corona wires are in the correct position , they can be placed in the wrong spots causing that and sometimes void areas. They are different sizes ,and can be mounted wrong
