mpc 3500 set drum unit correctly

I have a wierd thing happening,
at warm up the machine says "please set drum unit correctly"
I open it up re set the drum units check the charge roller units / all good/ there is no dust or toner in the back of the machine where they plug in or connect.
so what else could cause this to happen?
I re set the units and the machine will run until it goes to sleep for a while then the same thing at warm up.
is something else related to warm up that would cause this?

Hopefully it isn't this, but it sounds a little bit like one of the plugs on the machine the PCUs plug into is broken. That takes time and patience to fix, and isn't cheap.
On the other hand, have any of the drum units been replaced recently? It could be a lot easier if that's the case.
Just for grins, turn the machine off and unplug it for a while and see if that helps. It's easy enough to do, and it doesn't take that long.

I've seen this message after replacing a drum and not having the dev to drum wire connector plugged properly.
As Iowatech mentioned, have any units been replaced recently?
It's worth re-seating the connectors anyway.

I've done this a number of times.

Was either the drum unit or development unit with a part from a different model or printer model without modifying the connector?

I agree with all three suggestions, sounds like a very tenuous connection that breaks after things warmup and expand. The connector in the rear frame maybe partially pushed out.

Digicor, if all else fails and you haven't tried it yet, swap a color drum unit with the black (file the connector to fit) to see if the problem goes with the drum.

              Hi digicor,
there is a chip down under the dev. unit.
Replace it with a good one ,or replace the whole dev. unit.
              Waiting for your feedback....

OK i did all the drum to dv unit clips are re set
but the connector's on the c,y,m have been modified but the pin is still in them( see photo ) I just got this machine,by the way
I use remanned drum units from NA trading and they DONT have the pins left in the rj45 connector,
                photo 3.JPGphoto 2.JPGphoto 1.JPG
Is this the reason it could be malfunctioning until i re seat after the machine boots up?
I guess i could pull the pins and see... Ill get back to you with my results.
I also just might replace all the colors, the bk is oem like it should be with the pin incased or squared off like a typical rj45
I dont think the k is the issue, but who knows for sure? only your hairdresser LOL

OK i removed the pins, I do remember something MY tech adviser form ricoh saying about the pins when this was a new thing, to dremell the connector and remove the pins
I booted it up no problem, im going to shut it down over night and see what happens from a total cold start.

OK I took the pins out of the connectors, i started it up, and NO Message!!
looks like the pins were the trouble,
