[Misc] MPC2800 copy start key not turning green.

    Hi all,

We are a Canon dealer. We have a customer with a Ricoh MPC2800 which is non-contract. The machine has stopped printing and the copystart key does not go to a ready state when you switch the machine on. It goes thru' a warmup sequence and then just sits there. It does not appear to require any toner, paper etc.

    Any ideas?

Yep, I'm down with that, format the Hard Drive.

It does sound like an HDD problem, but you can first simply try disconnecting it, and firing up the machine. If it comes to ready (although with limited functionality) you have found the problem. Then try formatting it. If it fails, you will have to replace it, and any off the shelf 2.5" Sata drive will do.
Note: You will lose all Address book destinations (scanner/fax, etc.) on the HDD. Hopefully, if there are lots, the client had them backed up.

If the HDD is toast, the address book and the Document Server are already gone.

I understand. It was just meant to give the poster a heads up.

Are you sure it's a 2.5" SATA Drive? I'm pretty sure they are 3.5" SATA in the MPC 2800......

              Possibly.

I don't have one in to check of course.
