[Error Code] MP C2500: Scanner is currently in use by another user

    Hi all,

When I try to scan a document with Adobe Acrobat I get the error message on the title of this post and I can't scan. If I uninstall the Twain driver (Ver.4.19.04) and reinstall it I can scan again. It's very annoying having to uninstall/install the driver every time the error occurs. I'm on Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1.

    How can I solve this?

    Thanks in advance.

Does this message appear in Adobe or is it on the screen of the MP C2500?

It appears on Adobe. I took a screenshot, the driver is in portuguese, the english version won't install.

In the custom scan dialog box of Adobe my webcam appears as a scanner. Could it be related to this?

Why for the love of all that is Sciencey, are you using TWAIN? Just setup SMB scanning, takes 2 seconds on Windows 7.

Sorry, ruben, but what is SMB scanning and how do I setup it?

I tried to scan in safe mode and it works with no errors, definitely it's a driver related thing.

              Aficio MP C2000/C2500/C3000 download page

Here are the manuals for the device, which will explain everything.

Note: This only works if you are using a network cable and not a USB cable to the copier.

Create a new folder somewhere, right click, properties, sharing, advanced sharing, tick share this folder, give it an easy to remember share name (like: scans), permissions, tick full control to everyone. This folder is now shared over SMB, the network path under properties is what you will need to enter on the copier.

                On copier:

Go to the scanner button, folder, manual entry, type in the network path, enter your username and password. Do a test scan, if it doesn't go through, then the firmware of the copier is not up to date or you have an anti-virus or firewall blocking it. If it does go through press prg dest and enter a name and key display; to save for future use.

If you don't know your username you can find it by opening computer, c: or whatever your OS drive is, and users. The folder that isn't default or public or something.NET is your username. You can also do CMD -> set user.

File sharing will need to be turned on for this to work, thankfully it is on as default under most Windows 7 type OSs.

In most instances I would agree with you. I was thinking about that this morning but decided I wanted to know where the message was. I do have a couple of legal and medical customers whose software require that they used the software's built-in scanning function thus requiring either TWAIN or WIA.

I'm trying to set up the SMB scanning in the Web image monitor. I have read several tutorials but I still don't know what to put in the login user name. What name should I use?

                      Thanks in advance.

Recheck my post again, I give you two different ways. If you Windows Key + R, "CMD", "set user". This will be the quickest way.

I'm trying scan to email but I don't know what the user code is in the address book. If I enter any name it gives me an error. Can you help me?

                          Thanks in advance.

User codes are for recording copier usages, ignore it. Please read the user manual, we aren't your tech support.

I finally found what was wrong with the TWAIN driver, it had a conflict with Kaspersky anti-virus. I turn it off and I can scan. Thanks anyway for all the help.
