    Interchanging Fuser Sleeve Assemblies

    Hello,
I was wondering if a D144 4046 fusing sleeve could be swapped out with a D142 4045 fusing sleeve? They look the same. Any help would be appreciated.

Never tried it, but the numbers aren't the same, so I wouldn't take the risk.

The lamps are different, you can change them but it is hard to remove them. They are held in place with metal plates, you have to remove the sleeve to get to them, in doing so you risk damaging the metal belt.

If the belt gets even a little bit of damage (any dents, marks, creases, etc) it is ruined. If you are ever stuck at a customers with a damaged belt and you only have the other models', you can remove the sleeve and replace the damaged one. This may save you some time to get the correct parts, but the machine may have quality issues and noise.

Here in Holland, Ricoh doesn't accept claims anymore if the Fusing Sleeve is damaged. They say it should be replaced as a unit. It seems the Thermo Pile can detect changes in temperature at the point where the Sleeve is damaged, which results is SC's.

Here in South Africa the complete fuser is cheaper than the "fusing assembly" (thankfully) so we don't have to strip those nasty fusers (at least for now!)

I've only use D1424046 in MPC3002, 3502, 4502, 5502 didn't know there was any difference, nor does the machines apparently...

Lets see if there will be any sc codes or meltdowns, You will be the first to know.

Im with Zaxxon - always used D144 4046 in all of the 02 series. Never noticed any difference....only because I carry 1 refurbed 02 fuser in my car - easier than carrying 2.

So, if i'm getting this conversations wright, the only thing to do on a mpc3002 when the fuser sleeve is damaged, is to replace the whole fusing unit?

Please read my previous post. The part numbers listed are for the sleeve unit. They are updated versions that are updated units to reduce chattering noise after paper exits.
