672 codes on mp 6001 and mp 7500

so i have two ricohs i need to place in the field and my mp 6001 is giving me a 672 code, after reseating the controller and memory dimms i pull the sd card panel and out and reseat all.
machine comes to ready but when i put all covers on and reboot, same ole 672 code..
turns out the cover for the sd card had a screw a little longer than needed and this caused the 672 code to come up..must be grounding the controller out..
on my 2nd machine i have a mp 7500 with a shattered control panel.
replace the 672 code comes up.
now this machine is missing the print, scan card but has the 2 memory dimms on it.
it should work without the print scan option, right?
what must i have that i could be missing.
i bought it like this and decided to try to bring it back as it only has 350k on it
    thnx

For the MP 7500, If it has the printer and scanner buttons, then someone removed the Print/Scan SD card. Otherwise, it has the optional memory unit installed to expand total memory to 512MB. Either way, it should still function as a copier.

Just had a look in the service manual and there is an RTB about System/Copy firmware...

I seem to remember this when I was servicing a bunch of them...

      Hope that helps

Check the HDD, see if you can fire it up without the HDD attatched.

Yes it does need to have at least one memory stick in it. It uses 256MB sticks but you will have to check the service manual to get the speed.

672 can also be the psu that sits in the controller unit...

The fuse blows, shatters! New psu if this is the case!

Was that adding a second 256MB or is it the only one? If it is the only one, try it in the other slot. If it is the second 256MB, remove the original and replacing it with the new one. I know that bad memory will throw a code, but I am not sure if only one has to be in a specific slot.

i put a 128meg on the bottom slot,
256m on the top..cleaned the memory wth alcohol before mounting it.
i just dumped a bunch of old machines so now i can
open everything up and see where i am at..
hate to make this a parts machine only but i wont buy a controller if thats it..
