User Tools > Scanner Features > Scan Settings > Wait Time For Orig.: Exposure Glass > Off.

Just press the # key when it says "Insert next original or press #". This tells the machine that you do not have additional originals.

          Yep i got that bit
i was just wondering if there was anyway to turn it off
so if u set it to do say 10 copies and press start it does all 10 without asking you to press the # or start key

The issue is that the machine is trying to automatically collate. If you turn the feature off, if someone comes along with a set of originals that they put into the doc feeder and want twenty copies, they'll get twenty copies of the first page, twenty copies of the second, and so on. Just hitting the # key after scanning your one page is going to be the better option.

The machine is in a customers warehouse they are a simple bunch they like to lift the lid put the original
on the glass and get 5 copies
for this customer it would be easier to have it turned off
they rarley have more than one original but require several copies of it
problem is they previously had a 2018d that didnt have this feature/problem

Glad I could help. I've had a lot of experience where 'older' users would just use the glass instead of the ADF for multiple copies. Turning off the auto sort originally seemed like a good idea until the first time I had someone doing multiple copies of a deposition or a training manual and having them raise all holy hell when the machine wouldn't collate their fifty page document that they needed twenty or thirty copies of.

The warehouse guys are usually quite a simple lot like you said. I'm guessing it's mainly multiples of packing sheets or similar items, in which case the originals are probably so trashed they'd never survive the doc feeder, or they're just cut out of a cardboard box.
