    [CQ] Savin AC 204

copies have a light streak down middle of copy from lead edge to trail edge. Happens only in copying and is the same regardless if original is laid on the glass or ran through adf. Problem appeared to be due to the ld unit glass however after cleaning made no difference. did not clean scanner mirrors only because could not see anything that might be causing the problem. any thoughts ??? Thanks!!!

Dust on a mirror or a dirty white reference. Make sure that everything having to do with the scanner is clean and then cycle power.

If cleaning the mirrors does not help, check ccd assembly for contamination.

Also look along the slit glass through the mirrors at the ccd assembly. See if there could be any foreign object in the image path. I once had a piece of transparent stickytape that was stuck to bottom of the scanner assembly and was just long enough to interfere with the image path. The tech who recomissioned a relocation machine did not check that he had not removed all the stickytape that was supposed to keep the scanner assembly in place while in transit.

there was something I failed to mention; the white tape under original size cover has been torn off from back side to front; past the midway point.

That could be your problem. For this model the are no replaceable parts in the scanner unit, you have to replace the entire scanner. In answer to your question about the ccd unit, it is the board mounted to the lens block. Again part of the scanner unit.
