[CQ] MP C2551, when copying an original blank invoice grey boxes turn out purple.

As the title suggests, when I copy our blank invoices on the office MP C2551.

All the grey boxes on our original come out in purple. The red bits are correct, if a little darker than the original and black lines stay black.

I've adjusted image density and colour sensitivity to try and alter the issue, but I get no results.

Our previous MP C3000 didn't have this issue and I haven't replicated it on our other machines.

Are you using "Auto Color" or "Full Color"? The grey boxes coming out as purple sounds like the machine is interpreting the gray scale as colors. Either that or there is a slight tint to the grey boxes. Do you really need to having the copies in color?

I have used both auto colour and full colour as well as generation copy etc.

Yes, we need the copies in colour because of our two tone logo and general presentation of the doc.

Could I redesign the original with a darker grey area to bypass this problem?

related: I just tested the same original on an MP C3001 and got the same fault but this time in blue. so I think it is the original. What can I do to adjust this?

You could play around with the settings in "User Tools/Copier and Document Server/Adjust Color Image".

If it is a COPY and you select color, it will interpret all items on the page as a solid color or a certain "cast" of color even if it looks gray/grey on the original. It is best to send it to the document server from the computer, but in the print driver settings specify to print gray/grey scale in a black linescreen pattern instead of color.

If you look under User Tools, there's a maintenance tab. Under that is the calibration feature for the copier and printer modes. It will print out a sheet for you to have the copier scan for different resolutions. To help the machine get a better reference point, be sure to put about ten sheets of paper on top of the one that the copier is reading to help with any bleed through from the paper.

Overall making copies of colour documents you will never get the same result as an original. Add to that, the issue of RGB and CMYK colour values where your monitor and computer are using a different (and much larger) set of colour values than the copier and all kinds of interesting things can happen. If a printed version looks correct, then you may want to print a blank invoice to the machine, but choosing Document Server as the job type. Instead of printing, it will save a copy of the file to the Document Server that can be printed directly from the op panel on demand.

Try turning "Auto Density" for the toner off. I had this a couple of times on MP C2500's when copying forms, but if I remember correctly the blank areas turned red. If that works you can either set up a program or set it as default.

Just to clarify, ACC has been done and the copier is 100%.
We don't have the original document in digital format and we keep making copies of this one original, it was never an issue until we decided to fit the 2551 instead of the old 3000.

Thanks for the input, I've got a good idea of what to try and think I can resolve the issue.
