    [Error Code] MPC4502 SC 687

    Hello Everyone,

Have a MP C4502 at a customers site which stalls during a copy/print job and throws a 687. Per the service manual:

Memory address command error - The BCU does not receive a memory address command from the controller 120 seconds after paper is in the position for registration.

    Loose Connection
    Defective Controller
    Defective BCU

    Steps taken to correct problem:

    • Updated all fw including engine FW to latest version, was on 1.04a:04 - 1.06:04 has a correction, SC687 may occur or the machine may stall with "Copying..." displayed when a copy job is performed following recovery from Energy Saver Mode. The machine would stall before the engine update but would not pop the error until after.
    • Reseated all connectors on the BCU and controller
    • Replaced the BCU
    • Replaced the Controller

Google doesn't return many results, however I've found a slim few suggesting HDD.

    HDD, NVRAM, ADF Board/Cable?

Looking for some suggestions/opinions of where to look next.

    Thanks!

    Re: MPC4502 SC 687

Goose's Guide did not have SC 687 for this model. Searching it for all models, I came up with a few things to try.

For the MP C3500, disconnect the DF. If the problem goes away, replace the DF main board.

For the MP C6000, SP 5832-002, reformat HDD IMH. IMH I believe is IMage Handling. I would also try IMH memory clear SP 5801-004. Before doing any memory clear, I would backup the NVRAM. Before replacing NVRAM, I would back it up, do a full memory clear, and then restore from the backup. I would also print the Non-defaults in case the NVRAM does not backup properly.

      Hi there!
Cleaning the contacts of the DIMM is worth a try.
      Greetings...
