I have 2 machines which are over 2.8 mil clicks and the mylars are still good. Maybe my luck.

I have a MP7001 with 5.4 mil on it and never had the registration out or the mylars replaced. So it is possible. they ran 8.5x11, 20lb all the time.
it was replaced a week ago with mp7502. hopefuly will be just as good

This may be a little late but, I had a similar problem on the same make and model. I found that a black mylar sheet that is right behind that registration door that keeps popping open was worn thru by the paper. I had to remove that section from the machine. It wasn't as hard as it looked. To repair it; I used transparent tape to cover the worn area (where the paper was catching)- hasn't jammed since.
