ricoh mpc 5501

I just bought this machine has 150 k the wholesaler removes the hard drives on all the ricoh machines now. (this blows)
when I add a hard drive the screen will not come on. (just please wait) I have tried a couple good working drives same problem.

any suggestions >??

Don't order a new one from Ricoh, they are too expensive. Just buy any standard one from wherever, make sure it is the roughly the same size and brand. When you install it into the machine, it will automatically create its own partition, which will take some time. You will need to download the stamp data to the HDD, but otherwise it should work as is.

If you can get into service mode, you can format the drive SP-5832

There may have been an application installed and the copier is waiting for it to load from the HDD before it fully boots up and since there is no program on the new HDD it will be waiting a long time.
