Does the LED go green or not? Can you print?

These buttons break a lot i de-solder the proof print switch and replace the start switch.

The machine does not go to ready state:

1. Check HD. (disconnect it and retry). If it goes to ready replace / format HD. The machine use 2 HD in RAID so you have to check both of them.
2. If error persist Clear Copy application in SP mode.

theres a controller on left side toward rear take it out and disconnect sata and power cable for hd... power machine back on you will lose some functions but will eliminate hard drive issues

Looks like someone disabled copying through service mode. Go to SP 5-118 and see if its set to 0. If not change the setting to 0 and reboot.

HDD in a C4500 are IDE not SATA. But that would be my first guess as well. No "ready" text at the top of the copy screen usually points to something hanging the bootup of the machine.

Manually select a paper tray with paper in it or put an original into the document feeder to get a green ready light.
