    ricoh c2550

    Hi,

I desperately need help. I finally got the color registration to work after sp 2 111-1. Now things seem ok except that the colors don't align correctly. I tried to do the auto color calibration and It keep asking for paper but won't start printing. Does anyone have any ideas? I already clean and moved almost everything.
FYI I don't have the Service Manual if anyone can help that would be great.

    Thanks

Did you just run Mode A or did you run Mode C first? Run C then A; best to run A twice. If alignment is still correct check that the drums and laser are screwed in.

You will need the service manual, especially playing around with SP modes.

Before you run forced line position, you have to make sure that the ID sensors are clean. A dirty ID sensor assembly can throw the position off. You may also be having problems with the ITB slipping in it is getting old. I agree with Ruben, get a service manual.

Thanks so much for the info guys! I just started to have the original problem again. Color Registration cannot be performed. and 2111-A is failing. I don't know what else to try. Can anyone point me in the direction of the Service Manual?

Re-input all non default settings. The problems you have sound suspiciously like the machine has been subject to a memory clear. You should dig out the birth cert and go over all the values.

There is a site: www.justmanuals.us that has a number of free manuals. I have not used this particular site but the parts and service manual for the C2550 show as being available on their site.
I would try running the "acc calibration" page to see if all 4 colours are there and of similar laydown - if 1 of the colours is too lite it will throw of the MUSIC adjustment and cause it to fail.

Do the forced process control (SP3-011-001) or supply some
              toner (SP3-015-xxx).

I'm going to base my reply on the underlined portion of your original post.
The machine needs to print the calibration patterns so that the long side of the paper of the default paper size in your area can be placed next to document guide on the left side of the platen glass.
For example, here in the U.S. the default paper size is "Letter" size, which has the dimensions of eight and a half inches by eleven inches. So the calibration pattern needs to be correctly aligned with the eleven inch long side of the paper, and the eleven inch long side of the paper then needs to be aligned with the document guide on the left hand side of the platen glass. The machine won't print the patterns if that is not the case.
I'm sorry if I got this wrong.
On a lighter note, if you know what you are doing in service mode, there should be some useful adjustments in SP5 for this. If you don't know, I'd recommend you stay away from that, it has quite possibly led me to some of the most boring and frustrating hours I've ever spent working on machines (heh, that's my diploma from the School of Hard Knocks for the course "Why Using The Memory Clear SP Mode Is A Really Stupid Idea Only Used By Morons, You Fool.).

If the density of any of the colors is too light, you can have this issue. Along with what the others have stated in regards to clean ID sensors and the ITB, you should change out the pcu's and developers and start fresh.

                    Hi there!
Important: when you clean the ID-sensors, remove the bracket (see photo) and clean it. Otherwise the tonerdust will sit again on the ID-sensors. By the way RICOH recommended to use a dampened clothe (water, no alcohol) to clean the ID-sensors, cause of static problems.
                    Greetings...

Just a thought, my first questions are
                        1) updated firmware
                        2) PCU last 60K is it within specs. When was the last PM done.
                        3) are there any service codes? any in the SC400 and above.

Hey guys, maybe someone can help me. A customer had their machine plugged into the wall and with faulty wiring fried the board. I replaced it but when you connect the ethernet port the lights turn on like normal BUT it doesnt get a connection. Am i missing something? Thanks for the help.

Can you print a config page and scan it here? Are you trying to get a connection via DHCP or static? Which board got toasted?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                            Hit it.

If you have a 4 or more port switch try that, wall to switch, switch to copier....
