Ricoh Aficio 6500 SC 495

We have a Ricoh Aficio 6500 in the field that has been eating our lunch showing a SC495. We have cleaned the sensors, taken the Toner recycling unit apart, etc., and it still keeps popping this code. Any ideas out there? It would be much appreciated!

Just google copytechnet sc495 ricoh, or search this site there is a thread with a graphic showing sensor that causes this.......

try to cleaned the sloping toner recyling coil from the transfer unit, this may clogged and the senson throws a SC 495... SC 590 is from the vertical coil from developing unit... Good Luck Sir.

The following figure attached in pdf. file is related to title No.55 (TONER COLLECTION (B246/B248/B250/B253)) as in parts catalog manual.

Very good machine pity about the fuser and the leaky developer bushings. There is no sensor control on the drum cleaning toner recycling only gears that brake. Had that code before . There is that funny shaft gismo at the back of the machine behind the dev tank to transport toner this sensors could be the problem (dirty) as well or there is a blockage. Wish Ricoh could give sub codes for a SC495.

There is no need for any sub codes. Reference imaginemoko's post and khattab.al.masry pdf file, SC495 means that the signal pulses from from sensor 31 are either not present or are too far apart. The tube coming down in back of the development tank will give an SC 590 generated by the sensor at the top of that tube. SC 495 is also caused by the main motor running slow due to a bad motor or too much load. See the attached file, Page 6-61 from the service manual. there is one error on this page. Coil C is not driven by the toner collection. Coil C is driven by te main motor.

One other thing that I have encountered is that is the toner overflow switch fails, the waste tone bottle will fill up and backup into the waste toner pump causing Coil C to clog.
