I have this same issue and relized it was the firmware but, I have yet to perform a firmware update on an MFC. I was told two things which I am not sure are true but want to ask about too. 1. someone said you have to have a 64 gb sd card. 2. we have a ricoh card reader tool, do we need to use it to write or can I just plug the card into the card slot on my laptop.

      3. how exactly do you perform this procedure? any printed instruction? Do I do it with my laptop and the 4501 web interface or do I put the card in the ricoh card slot (#2? or does it matter?) and boot the machine with door open or closed etc.

      4. can someone get me the firmware I need?

I have set up my client with scan to email which works fine but they want scan to folder.

Your help is greatly appreciated. --- Norm

If you are not a tech for an authorized Ricoh dealer, call one and have him/her update your firmware. If you are, you can download from TSRC or rfg-esource. Instruction on how to update are in the service manual. Who ever said that you need a 64GB SD card was either blowing up your exhaust or you mis-understood and it was MB not GB. I use 512 MB and 1 GB SD cards. Newer machines can use larger cards. You may need to format the SD card with the Panasonic format tool.

            1. 64gb card won't be recognised in your device. The official card size is 2gb or less, any higher than this and it is likely that it won't work.

            2. Any old card reader will do, I use the one built into my laptop.

            3. I'd recommend you get a service manual, which has a detailed step by step procedure for installing firmware.
Here's a brief help: first format your SD card. > create a folder called 'romdata' on the root of that card. > unpack the firmware you have and put inside the romdata folder. > turn your machine off > Install the SD card into the 2nd (lower) sd card slot > turn your machine on and it will bring up a list of firmware. > IMPORTANT: match the numbers (not the final letter) between the old rom and the new rom (e.g. Old: D0295560E New: D0295560G), if you install the wrong firmware you can ruin your machine for good. > select the firmware's that match and choose update > wait... do NOT power off your device until told to, this can also ruin your machine. > before you turn your machine back on again, remove the SD card.

            4. No I can't, I do believe their is someone here who sells it though.

            5. If you're not confident doing this stuff, pay a professional to do so. It will cost you less in the long run.

Thank you for appreciating my help.

1st thing you should try/check is to make sure you have the domain name entered on the copier under network interface.
