    Ricoh 2238C Fuser Gears...Help Please...

    Hello all,

I have a couple of Ricoh 2238C boxes and they are workhorses for me.

I have a bit of a problem with two small gears that I can't seem to find the part numbers. I've looked in the parts book for the fuser breakdown but I can't seem to locate these two gears.

These gears seem to be the weak point of the fuser...if I could just replace these two gears, I could get a lot more mileage out of an otherwise sturdy unit.

I have attached a photo with the gears circled. If anyone could help me with the part numbers, I would appreciate it!

    Many thanks and best regards,

    The Tenor Man

You might want to check to see if they are the same as the 2 gears on the front of the oil supply rollers.

      Slimslob,

      Thanks for your reply.

I did check those gears but I don't think that they will interchange....

The gears that I'm looking for are slightly helical....

      Many thanks....

When I see these gears go bad I just put the whole fuser in. It's about 65.00 dollars. Not worth the labor to change them, especially since the thermistors won't be far behind.

I seem to remember that we always replaced the entire fusing unit when the fusing belts failed. It was less expensive than the parts and labor. The only gears I ever had go bad was the drive input gear. When we had to replace one because of a belt failure, we would harvest for gears.
