Re: MP 171 network card Problems.
A red light on the printer button could be the application you are printing from needs a size of paper that is not in the machine. The print job will be at least partially stored in the machine's memory, which is why the red light appears whether the network cable is plugged in or not.
You should check that.Comment

Re: MP 171 network card Problems.
Are you referring to the red light next to the Printer Function button on the control panel or the one next to the network connector? If it is the one next to the network connector, clear the following:Printer Application - SP5801-008You will have to reenter all your network settings. If this does not correct the problem, then the controller board will need to be replaced.
Scanner Application - SP5801-009
Web Service/Network Application - SP5801-010
NCS - SP5801-011
If it only does it when the network cable is plugged in, there is a problem with the switch that it is connected to.Comment

Re: MP 171 network card Problems.
If you're talking about the tiny little red led you can see inside - it always flashes red
So how about being a little more specific as to what you are actually talking about???
And what 'access codes' ?
Side note: Why the tiny font. Are you shy or something?Comment

Re: MP 171 network card Problems.
This machine is on a ship and I can only get to it when the ship is in port. The problem is the orange light stays on, and when they send a print it does nothing. My guess is that the network controller does not work. Am not sure how to clear this in sp mode.
ThanksComment

* and # keys held down for about 10 seconds in copy mode should clear the memory and do a soft restart!
