    MP Pro c5100

    Hi

I have just got a new Pro C5100 delivered which had done around 300 copies which was great I thought until now I see there is no Printer on the control panel. Is there something I need to switch on in Service mode or is there an SD card I need for Network/Netware like an M2 card? I have checked user tools and there is no Printer there.

    Thanks for any help

This card is for NETWARE printing only........ The real way this machine is designed to print is with the Fiery E-22B or e-42B....

WHo does anything with netware anymore??????????????

                  Egg-zactly!

If you order the card, you will be very sadly disappointed. It is simply an option for the internal (GW+) print controller.

And nobody uses NetWare anymore. I can't even remember the last time I saw it.

                    Check SP5193-001.

It should be set to 0 to use the internal controller, 1 for the option external Fiery controllers.

The Fiery connects to the machine through a second NIC card, which will be right next to the standard NIC. (The secondary NIC is referred to as the Gigabit controller.)

Sounds like there is a chance that you have NO print controller. For your sake, I hope not.

Hi. You were right it was on 1 but putting it on 0 has not done it. Rebooted etc but no go so hopefully the netware card will do it. Thank you for the input tho.

If it was set to 1 then your machine most likely came from Ricoh as a Fiery equipped unit..... That's what the Pro 5100 was intended to be for. It's a light production unit not an office unit like the c6502/c8002 units.

                          Hi

I think you are right, I do find a lot of printers don't like gaffing with the fiery and all its options and the internal seems pretty good at getting the colours right. I did have one printer who went back to the internal on an older type machine as it was always better. I have ordered the Netware card for it, do you think that will do it?

                          Thanks

                            You're not listening.

The NetWare card WILL NOT HELP if there is no print controller to begin with.

Sound like it had a Fiery originally, but you don't have it. (A Fiery is a totally separate box) which connects using a crossover cable and a second Ethernet port on the copier. That card normally ships with the Fiery.

BTW... The Fiery is far superior to the internal print controller. Better utilities, color control, etc..., especially on a higher end machine like this.

I do agree that Fieries are a bit of a waste on small machines, and can be more of a hassle than anything, but not so on a 5100. I am not a fan of putting a Fiery on a "business color" unit, where the most complex or critical print jobs it will ever see are from Word or PowerPoint.

If you are to get the best performance out of this machine, a Fiery is essential. The internal controller is offered as a lower priced alternative, and is sometimes a good fit for those who don't demand the higher end features.

KenB I think the UK Salesforce see's this differently, I don't have one ProC5100 or variant using a Fiery.
