We won't sell them with the internal controller; Fiery only.

Then again we have a dedicated Production Print Group which specializes in the professional product lines.

Admittedly, the Fiery adds a significant cost, but you get what you pay for.

      Re: MP Pro c5100

      Hi.

Is there anyway of knowing if the controller is installed? It has all the stuff at the rear and Ethernet socket etc so I assumed the controller was there.

I feel dimwited a little on this as I know networking and fixing these puppies but never came across this where there is no printer showing.

Once I have got the netware card I was hoping to install it and it would do the job but it does not sound like it will hey.

      Thanka ka for getting back.

The presence of a network jack does not indicate that there is a printing option installed.

If you print a firmware report, it will show the versions of the print components, if installed.

If they show as "- -" (2 dashes), it's not there.

You're getting some bum information here. All Pro C5100 supplied in the UK have the GW controller but it is disabled because most have a Fiery connected to them. On the one occasion I installed a C5100 without a Fiery I followed the install procedure for the Fiery in reverse, chek SP5895, your machine is probably set to 1, set this to 0 and reboot machine.

The page from the E22B manual is attached.C5100 print setup.pdf

            Hopefully that's it.

            Sorry for any misguidance.

Sorry If you disagree sport, but KenB and I are in the States and we try to provide the best info that we can. I went to the effort to re read the PSG and the install sections of the manual for us in the US, found nothing showing a GW controller built in for the Pro 5100. In the US if you want a GW controller you get the MP C6502 or MP C8002, If you want the Pro 5100 you get a Fiery. That's Ricoh on the other side of the pond, we don't try to provide BS............

Well I've learnt something from this thread, wasn't aware of SP5895.

                Apologies Timmy and thanks Avalon.

Hi. Thank you for the info. It worked as soon as I rebooted it. Really appreciate it, I was hoping it was a case of switching it on in SP mode. Even tried a Postscript card and it worked perfectly. Let's hope the machine does and the latest firmware helps with the toner collection filling in a second :0)

Have a good day and thanks Ken and Gamut also, it all helps with our inputs for anyone else out there.

                    No offence meant guys.

Kind of agree with the idea that the Fiery is standard on the Pro model. In the UK you can have the GW, E22B and E42B on the Pro and the GW and E22B on the office version. What the .....

Nothing like Uncle Ricoh making it confusing!

                        Re: MP Pro c5100

Hi. I have a problem with the pro c5100. I managed to get the printer showing on the display, using the built in rip, as advised and today went to check if the machine prints from a network, got an IP address but Ricoh don't have any printer description files that match the 5100 as it assumes it has a E22b Fiery inside for example so Ricoh only show it in controllers and not in MPC machines even tho it has a GW controller only now.

As as this is the same machine in a way as the MPC 6502 would that Printer description file work as that is available at Ricoh?. Any advice would be great.

                        Thanks. Tim.

The driver is listed on the Download site under High End Production Printing.

Hi. Thank you, I found it, I was just not scrolling down far enough on the download site as I have never needed to. Works a treat.
