    [Misc] RICOH MPC 4000

This is a new one i came across...setup, an MPC 4000 on a network. When we print to it the jobs directly goto rest and i get the message resetting job. There's only one computer from where i managed to print but that too isn't regular. It will print at times and at time just goto reset.

    Any idea anyone ?

PS: i did check all the authentication is OFF

Just curious, would these all be Windows 8.1 systems?

I'm not an IT expert by any means, but I very recently had a few experiences with Windows 8.1, one of which was with my own 2 home printers (1 Ricoh and 1 Oki) at the same time, and for no apparent reason where printing simply stopped, and I couldn't figure it out. I had the same symptoms you described, where the data light flashed briefly, and then stopped.
My issue was resolved by a thread I started in the "connectivity" forum.
The very easy fix, and what I'm doing with every setup from now on, is to simply go to the printer properties / ports / configure port. change from 'Raw' to "LPR", and enter anything for queue name - 'IP' for example, but anything at all seems to work. Click apply.

This originally started with 1 Laptop at a client's office, then mine. I've since had 2 more, and today a customer was complaining about VERY slow printing from certain applications, and even though she was using Windows 7, I thought "what the hell, It can't hurt to try", so I changed the settings, and it made a HUGE difference.

Being the non-IT expert that I am, I still have no understanding as to what happened to cause the systems to simply stop working, but that was my fix, thanks to the suggestions of some real experts.
It may not be your fix in this case, but it can't hurt to try.

        My 2 cents.
        Good luck

Many IT-experts aren't really... Often an answer from a Non-IT expert (as you) are easy to follow and actually works

I've had a similar issues that were fixed by formatting the hdd and clearing the printer memory. 5832.005 to format printer hdd. 5832.001 to reset all hdd if that doesn't work but you will lose address book, document server and admin email and some other defaults so back up accordingly. 5801.008 for printer nvram. Might have to enter IPs again. It doesn't have account codes setup right?

I believe IP address has to be reentered only when you clear NCS, SP 5801-011 though I have had times when I have had to clear NCS to correct a printing problem. You might want to clear Web Service/Network Application SP 5801-010.

Thank you so much guys for your help though.

Any idea why that machine didn't have PCL?

Good question since the product support guide does not show a PS version or PCL print option. Only three models: Standard Mainframe included Printer/Scanner; SPF model Printer/Scanner/Fax; and Government version which was the standard mainframe model with special government pricing. Someone had to have hacked the Printer/Scanner SD card to remove the PCL portion of the program or the card has been damaged. You can order a service replacement SD card from parts. If you have the Printer/Scanner SD card check to see if there is a part number on the label.

                        Maybe try reloading PCL firmware.
