    Ricoh MPC4502

    Hi guys,

Thanks for all your help again.

Got a call from a customer saying, all 4 paper trays not picking up paper except from bypass tray.(Ricoh MPC4502)

Will this be just a sensor issue or a motor fault?

Just trying to get some thoughts before going to site as its a 4hr-drive from work.

Is it that all 4 trays fail to feed any paper or is that all 4 trays are jamming? If it is jamming, what is the jam code. If it is a jam and the jam code is on the error screen, point it out to the customer and tell them it would have been nice to know before you left your office so that you could bring the proper parts.

Make sure she took the cover off the paper before loading it.

      Heard it happened here.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Thanks for the reply, there's no jam code on the screen. only saying paper jam but there's no paper jammed. It fails to feed paper from all trays.

I can see a machine not feeding from both trays 1&2 or 3&4 if a paper feed motor was bad. Two bad motors is doubtful. Check the Plotter Jam history in SP 7507. Often I have had a customer say that it is not feeding from any tray only to find out that if you pull out tray 1, tray 2 will feed.

One other thing, the way the pick up and feed rollers are mounted on these can cause feeding problems as the pick up roller does not have its own retainer clip.

The pick up roller/belt on these are poor imo we replace all the feed rollers with the MPC2800 ones they last longer also.

My guess would be it's not jamming from all trays, the customer is probally mistaken.
More likely only jamming from one tray, or they have a load paper message if they're trying to print on plain or heavy paper when that type isn't in any tray etc.
