    Savin 8025e issues

Last week I had problems with getting error code sc 524 and thru this site figured out how to reset my machine...I got the error codes a couple of times and was able to clear it. Today when I cleared using clear mode, 1-0-7-, clear stop(hold 4 sec), power down...when the machine powered back up...it took a much longer time to come back up and then defaulted to the fax feature and does not seem to know that it has a copier ...can not select the copy button, can not use document server key...it WILL print. Any ideas what to do?

    I am using VISTA

More than likely you need to have a tech reflash the firmware. Did you have a S/C 542 instead of 524...since there isn't a code like that for this machine?

NCArt is right. Firmware is toast, and you'll need a tech to update it for you. However, intermittant SC 5xx codes on fairly new machines is typical of lack of power from the outlet. Make sure the machine is on a dedicated line.

That's what happens when end users are given access to the service modes. This is a huge liability, and any good tech should know this.

What was probably an easy, inexpensive fix for a tech has now turned into a big (probably expensive) problem for this poor guy, not to mention his loss of time from the machine being down.

I would urge the members of this forum to consider this carefully before giving out that type of information to the untrained.

The software MAY be corrupt. Moosehead, what else have you done with the settings?

If it's throwing error codes, there is probably something going on, either power-related or fuser-related. As pspahr stated, this may be a power issue. Was the machine recently moved? Refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, AC units & copiers all on one circuit is a bad idea, but many times figuring out what is on what circuit can be difficult to determine, until the machine is throwing codes-like this one is.

I would not continue to enter service mode, as it is not solving the problem. Definitely leave that to an experienced tech who needs to double-check what is going on. You could be chasing a ghost-in-the-machine if you're not too sure as to what exactly is causing the problem.
