    Light Copy In MP2501SP

    Dear All,
I replaced complete kit (drum, developer, cleaning blade, charge roller, hot roller, press roller, thermisters) after completing his life, before replacing parts copy quality is light and after replacing parts problem is still same,
there is a lot off background in copy.

When you replaced these parts, did you set the corresponding bits in SP mode so that the machine does process control on first start, after the parts were fitted?

Can you possibly post a sample of the print?
    Press the GREEN button!!

My apologies - i was thinking of an MPC.

I had a look in the service manual and your dev init. procedure was correct.

Have you printed a SMC report to check what the VSP and VSG readings are.

Seeing that you replaced most of the image area items, one needs to look elsewhere for the cause of the light copies.

What is the current copy count? What is the condition of the transfer roller? Is it installed properly and are all of the springs and contacts in place?

If it is only copying that is light but printing, counter sheet and SMC prints are good, you need to clean the optics. Dirty mirrors, etc at power up will make the white reference look gray. The machine adjusts its gray scale to make this be considered white which lightens the entire gray scale.

Counter and SMC printout is also light.
there is no sharpness on counter printout as well as SMC printout.
there is background and a black line of almost 1/2 inch on the edge on the back side of counter printout.

it does sound like a very dirty laser lens
Back grounding is caused by a few things, charge roller seated correctly over the metal spring like contacts? this is the main reason ive had this issue, from re assembly one may get skewed and not be under the charge roller
DV Contacts making good connection, DV roller needs to be cleaned (scrub it with a scotch brite pad or fine steel wool) but this is no good if you dont want to waste the DV
Drum Contacts also need to make good contact
