    Density issue w?mp8001

OK i got this machine used, but it was making a great copy, delivered it and week later i get a "Light copy's" Call, I go tone it up, it tones up just fine, I reset the IDens and left, week later, same thing, this time i toned it up, re ran a DV int, and set the ID sensor initial and the other one, escaped me ritgh now, week later same compliant, Could this be the DV? or the Image dens sensor? failing. Im under the impression that the DV will not tone up if it is shot, and the copies will be light and not get darker if you do a manual darken from the user. I have seen the Image density sensor cause this in the older AF2035,3035 mp4500 ect.
I just dont want to go change DV and have the same issue's.
The DV says it at 435k witch is way over the yield , but i dont know what has been done to this machine, the counters are all at 435k
is there a way to check the DV with voltage ranges?
    and Imagage density sensor voltages?
    Thanks

Are you cleaning the ID sensor? The high volume machines can scatter toner and it builds up on the frame of the PCU. If you are cleaning it and the toner keeps building up then in all likely hood the machine has not had any PM parts replaced. The previous dealer traded it in rather than doing a PM. At 435K you might as well do both the 300K and 450K maintenance services. PM life of the developer is 350K.

good advice, just like the 2060,2075,mp7000, 7001 8001. the desity sensor get clobbered, I just wasnt sure if there was anyway to tell if it was failing.

      Thanks

Agree with PM suggestion, also might want to run a non-default sp print out to verify nobody whacked out some important settings. Clean toner film off of mag. roller and make sure to vacuum all the old developer you can out of unit.

Do everything slimslob mentioned!!! Whats the total meter on the clock????? You will get density issues if the customer doesn't run it enough or they run to much with very low fill rates. Check sp 8851 for the pages run at given fill rates, if the % of total pages is 80 % or more for the fill rates below 5% there is a TSB from Ricoh on counter measures. DO the full PM first , then get the frimwar current and see how it does........... I have a boat load of these I service and if treated right they will make money!!!!!!!!!!
