SRAM has been formatted due to problem with SRAM message

    hi
i have a mpc2550 copier i just bought and have to deliver 1 hour away.
i thought i cleared it fax service mode >ram clear> factory mode.
it went away but i think when i unplugged it it came back.
does this have to do wth the 3volt lithium batteries on the MBU brd?am i clearing this right?

If the jumper is in the "ON" position, the battery could be bad. The jumper turns the battery on/off.

You did a fax ram clear then rebooted and got the sram has been formatted prompt, this would be expected. Next you should access the address book in user tools, exit and reboot, the message should clear after that...... My experience with this and my 2 cents worth.................

i will buy a few 3v wth pigtails and try to repair.

i cldnt get my loose ones to take a solder.
i have had this problem before but didnt need the fax option so i pulled it .

I did a search on Yahoo. Came up with this amongst others. Panasonic VL2020/HFN Lithium Rechargeable Battery -Solder Tabs (1+/1-)

i have a high end adjustable solder station but could not get any wires to connect to bare battery
so what you found looks like a perfect fit..
i thought the batteries were only for speed dial number and such.

Re: SRAM has been formatted due to problem with SRAM message

if the fax board is out of the machine or the machine stays unplugged the MBU battery will die. Looks like Ricoh then wants you to buy a new MBU board.
I soldered in a battery holder for a CR2450 3v Li battery - ebay has these holders and batteries. The spacing on the pins lined up with the holes on the board. worked like a charm - and next time changing the battery will be a breeze
