There are a few threads about this your drum unit is worn
You need to replace your drum with an original Ricoh drum unit

The recommended is 60k but you are lucky if you get 45-50k from them
time to change that drum unit

We usually get 80-90K. I have had a few go over 100K before starting to get drum spots.

For us those usually make it to 60-70k before bad quality issues but I do have some where printing is fine but copies are washed out and faded anywhere from 40-60k, typically if its not the optics causing it then the only real cure is to rebuild the pcu with fresh developer. You can't always go by the yield, i have customers who last 70k+ but they run the crap out of it they are due for PM within 6 months, i have some that only ever make it to 40K but it took them 2 years to get there by then the developer is old not just from use but from sitting so long.

You have to consider the monthly average for that machine if that customer is way under the machines normal use levels they will likely have failing parts before hitting recommended yields, you will see more often customers who run it harder will typically go over the yields but it will be a dirty mess inside.

Re: Ricoh mp3350 pale copy and good in printing

It all depends on the paper orientation. Customers that primarily use LEF will get yield or better. Customers who use SEF will typically get 45K to 50K on them. Also if a customer runs a lot of legal then even worse.
Hope this helps, cause depending on customers we get 45k to 90K. There are service settings to help a little and in 1 account we programmed the copy screen to be a little darker ( They tend to use pencil for blueprints )

Like they said most likely the drum unit but also make sure someone hasn't been leaning on the scanner.
Try to lift up on the front left corner while making a copy and see if it comes out darker.

I have these problem yesterday....mine is MP5000, printing config page and counter, you got a very nice output, but on photocopy, image is pale especially the solid areas. I tried to clean the optics, the laser also even replaced the transfer belt, but no luck, I tried to adjust the scanner contrast but still same problem goes. Then what I do is I get another new OPC drum and replaced it. then it solved my problem. Unluckily I got a copy of 35k only.
.....with all it shams, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.....

Check the scanner related SP and compare with birth certificate sheet - I had a case after someone messed around with engine/memory clear. It's also true that prints tends to appear more solid-blackish than copies for some reason so it doesn't hurt to try a new PCU (you can still re-install the old one in case it won't fix something).
