light copies is an issue that i see more and more on these machines, developer with only 100k has to be replaced and so on...

I've heard there's a fuzz with bad toner in the field, but no official communication so far...
Ricoh is not Volkswagen... They'll ever admit nothing.... We have 100+ machines with the same problem..... Ricoh knows it that something is wrong with the type 9002 toner...... They sent us developer for free last month...... What does this mean in your eyes?...... I guess they found the problem... And in the next stock of toner the problem disappears...... I'm sure its NOT an humidity issue..... The problem starts last year... Before everything worked... (type 6210 toner)

In all honesty I can't say I'm aware of the issue. Different climate maybe ?
Where possible I try an run a brush or small blade screwdriver under the doc blade during a normal PM.

If it's the doc blade is causing the repeated issue, then make use of the problem to your advantage.

      Take advantage of the problem:
Let the toner build up under the doc blade as it normally does, but now place a thin micron metal shim under the doc-blade and screw the doc-blade back down onto the shim. The shim will lift the height of the doc blade by microns, and the toner will build up to compensate for the extra gap ?
It might get you an extra 50-100k of extra copies before issue returns. Which will get you to the next PM and you can then clean the doc blade.

You can purchase 150x150mm(6"x6") sheets of harden shim steel at most hardware, bearing supplies or auto-parts shops. The harden steel shim package comes in various sizes 1mm down to 0.1 or there about. Cut off 6mm(1/4") small squares with Tin snips/shears and pack under the doc-blade for a test ????
Try it on one machine first an see if it makes any difference. Try different shim thickness to find the right height.

Just make your technicians aware of the extra gap when doing a PM.

We did this on two machines for test, but the problem is still the same.......we have the same problem on Aficio 1060/2075.....it's not an MP issue......i repeat again and again, in our case the problem starts when Ricoh changed the toner from 6210 to type 9002...

                  UPDATE:

two weeks ago Ricoh send us new Type 9002 toner with the advice "try this".......and surprise......the problem seems to disappear......machines that never made more then 20k copies without having blurred image or other quality related problems now make 150k and more without any problem.......so...if i'm not stupid the problem was the toner......of course nobody admits anything......i hope that after almost one year, angry customers, tons of developer this story finds an happy end......

                    Thanks in advance

Ok.. Where are you from?..... I suggest not only to change toner.... But to clean the "toner box" on the development unit, so you can start with new toner...... And eventually change developer..... In some cases the developer is gone because of the faulty toner
