How to chance serial numbers when changing network board on 830DN

I believe the network card on the our 830dn is bad, tried multiple cables and same problem with all of them. I swapped the boards out but I get a error that serial numbers don't match. How do I go about changing the serial numbers?

You don't. Remove the NVRAM from the old controller and put it on the new one. Just a note, I looked at a 810DN where the network port is built in to the controller.

Did you move the controller Nvram from the old board to the new one? What fault were you experiencing originally?

Thanks for both of the responses... is the NVRAM just the regular ram in a PC? Or is the NVRAM something different?

For some reason the 830dn is no longer showing up on the network and we've tried difference cords and everything and still experiencing the same issue so we assumed it meant the board needed to be replaced.

Follow the replacement and adjustment procedure in the service manual. Before you do though, print off a configuration page and post it on here will you? Board replacement is a bit drastic.

Ok I have swapped out the board and now I am getting contectivity on our switch but not seeing it on the network map now. I know I have data through the line but for some reason I can't see the printer in the network. Here is the config page.Ricoh 830 Configuration Page.pdf

I don't see a gateway or sub-net mask address under IPV4 - won't you need those for a network connection?

We had an employee that thought he understood networking and he FUBAR'd our equipment. Is there a way to do a master reset on the networking or is there somewhere I can go to find the correct network settings? We are kinda new to the programming of these printers.

With due respect....It's just a bit insulting that you would just start aimlessly swapping circuitry on a printer simply because it doesn't print, yet you don't even possess the knowledge to check that the proper network settings are done in the first place

Control board problems are almost always accompanied by Error messages, and SC codes when they are in fact the culprit

Turn on DHCP in order to use the machine until you get a qualified MFP tech out there. Many IT personnel understand networking but do not know how to apply that information anything other than a computer or a HP printer.

You are sunk hip deep into this. I should NEVER assume anything, BUT, if the printer worked ok before, I'll give you the fix. The network settings for the machine have to be programmed in and the procedure is WAY too long for me to step by step. I see that DHCP is turned off, and no static IP is set. 1.Try turning on DHCP, reboot and see what happens. If not, you will have to manually input the IP address. All of these instructions are here. Will it take a while? Yes. Will it save you money if it works? Yes. If it doesn't work, call a local tech. It would have cost you a minimum labor charge at my place of business and in 30 minutes you would have been back on line, not swappin' boards. Just saying. There's nothing wrong with the old controller board. IEEE802 authentication was active and it was locking the NIC out on the old board. Switch it off and all should be spiffing.
