OK if the lamp tuned on and off I guess it should be OK - thanks to nowadays energy saving efforts target temperatures are specified lower and the hot rollers are pretty thin and losse the heat pretty fast. If you like to burn your finger you need to touch the roller right away

hahaha that's just it, I did touch the hot roller right away, I opened the guide at the front and touched it, but it was cold. I am currently using all 3 fuser units and building one perfect one, if that doesn't work then I will be totally baffled

Check the sockets where the thermistor plugs in make sure a pin isn't bent.

Funny but you also say the lamp turns on and off and on... how is it possible that a functional lamp produce no noticeable heat?
Did you compare the lamp switching/on time behaviour with a healthy machine, does it look different?

Thermistor pins and connecters are perfect, I have one last thing to try, check all the pins on the BICU, maybe one pin broke somewhere or maybe there is a broken cable somewhere, I have no more other ideas left

I was wrong about the fuser, I have checked with a working machine and it does the same thing, I guess I was just too slow in checking the heat.

Ok - do you have a chance to take both controller AND bicu NV ram chips as a set from the working machine and install them at the same time into the "troublemaker"?

Finally!!! The problem was a broken cable that connects to the laser, even though no SC code popped up, it caused the machine to stay in warm up mode, I guess the couldn't pick up the laser. thank you guys for all your assistance, it was very much appreciated!

True, I had a problem with a MP171 where the laser wasn't properly connected and it popped up an SC code, I guess the 301 is different.

Hello, was the broken cable one of the cables coming out of the fuser? I know there are three, one being the ground of course. Otherwise which cable and how would that get broken?

Hi, no it was the cable that connects the BICU and laser unit, there was a wire that was broken on that cable.

Do you know how that could have happened? Another tech that worked on it before might have damaged it before you got a hold of it? Otherwise defective from the factory?

No it couldn't be factory because the machine came from another client of ours, probably another tech or it could even be the client
