Pretty sure their is a lift spring on those machines that loosen, either needs replacing or put a kink in it with a pair of pliers to make it stronger

Try to check the casette position sensor on the rear of the machine, and check the spring of the lift plate, a worn out spring can create a lot of ghost jams, i remember that Ricoh changed these springs, to replace in machines with this kind of problem.

I don't know this model, but on the AF1027 I had to tighten the two long springs that drags the lift plate up, as they get loose over time.

Just cut off a few rounds of the spring, and make a new hook in the end, or just make a few bends in the straight part of the springs as suggested earlier in the posts.
But beware they are fragile, and will snap in half if bent too much back and forth.

Even if they snap in half, you can fix them by making two hooks on the broken parts, and just connect them and flatten the hooks so they don't separate. :-D
