It does sound like a network error. it could be a bad or loose patch cord at the machine or the switch room or even at the computer. I have also seen this with a network switch going bad. One thing you can do to check, if you have another printer, connect it where the 4000 is using the same network cable, jack, etc. If it does the same thing, it is definitely not the 4000.

1-You may need to do clear all setting step "5801"
2-if you use the windows driver change it to the original ricoh driver
        3-check the cables
4-try to remove the Ram clean it well and reinstal it

Do not clear all memory unless you have the birth certificate and a print out of all settings in User Tools.

This is clearly an end user do not promote use of SP modes or else the technician will have more stupid looks for them.

i dont think it is end user, it might be the bad or loose patch cord like slimslob suggest. i can test it out.

because there like 4 r 5 people have the same problem.

If you had read his first post, you would realize that he had a tech work on it already and said that the machine all checked out fine. He was asking for suggestions as to what, other then the machine itself, he could check since he does not have IT and apparently the copier tech didn't offer to help.

Are you using the correct print driver or is it the class driver? Download the correct print driver from the Ricoh website in your country and save it.
Get the IP address of the printer, to do this, go to user tools (the button with a diamond and 123 on it), press printer features, configuration sheet, the IP address of the machine should be printed on the sheet just below halfway down the sheet on the right.

On your PC go to printers, add a new printer, add local printer, use the drop down on use an existing port to find the IP address of your printer, if it's not there select add new port, select standard TCP/IP, then put the IP address in hostname or IP address box (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), uncheck the box that asks to query the printer and automatically select driver, then say that you have disk, browse to where you saved the driver when you downloaded it, and follow the on screen prompts to install.

I'm guessing that this is a driver issue, and installing the correct driver will resolve it

I thinkbif its driver related the tech should have checked, even if he cant change it he can see what one your using and verify if its correct if its not correct he should be able to tell you this and which one your IT person should install, I have seen a lot of IT support just install generic drivers until informed otherwise.

I would definitly start with driver and network connectivity.

First thing I do as a tech is hook my laptop up with a crossover cable, and then try a test page. If successful I tell the customer the machine checks out good then point them in the aforementioned cat 5 cable and print driver, maybe resetting the router and so on. When they ask me to find the problem I kindly say the copier is fine and an IT guy may need to look at your network cause I could possibly spend an afternoon here trying to figure it out and you wouldn't want that bill. The only thing I don't recommend is an end user getting into SP modes and doing memory clears, that makes things worse most of the time. What some people don't realize is we as copier technicians are not peoples IT service cause that carries a whole new bill that's not included in a companies MA agreement.

I wonder if V_A has gotten to the bottom of his issue yet?

                            Duplicate ip?

Could be. I had this one time and the problem turned to be that the IP address the new IT person provided me was in the range that was be used by Virtual LAN server that the IT was not aware of, they had recently gotten the account and were in the process of physically tracing every thing that was there. When someone came in over the V-LAN, the MFP would drop off the network, as soon as they disconnected, it would start working. Could also be someone using a laptop that is not always there and uses a fixed IP address. Disconnect the MFP and then ping the IP. If there is a response, have IT arp the IP address to get the MAC of the offending device. They can then block that MAC from accessing through the router and wait to see who complains that they cannot access the internet.
