    Doesn't make sense

The 1022 doesn't have waste toner collection, though it does have toner recycle. Also, the 1022 doesn't have separate developer, it uses a complete PCU replacement. If you mean that developer is getting drawn onto the drum and cleaned off in the cleaning / recycling area, then the drum is probably shot and you need a new PCU.

Change the PCU and clean up the mess inside of the copier... That should do the trick.

if i'm not mistaken the machine uses drum type 1027 (pcu assembly), if dev goes inside the cleaning unit, either the chrg volt is too high, dev bias adj., bias grnd(if dv&dr was replaced sep) or incompatible dr&dv might be the cause.

Since that PCU is only rated for 60K, I'd say you got your money's worth from it then.

I think we set the counter for 66k on these PCU's, they start to get a bit grotty around 50k tho!
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

              Hit it.
