Ricoh MPC2503 Yellow Background on copies and prints.

Guys I need your advice. Our customer has MPC2503 machine that constantly having yellow background on prints and copies. Although we repeatedly replaced PCDU-Yellow but still keeps coming back. But if print the calibration sheet, it's ok. I have tested the Transfer Unit but also ok. Does anyone has experience like this? Thanks in advance.

Did you reset the PCDU counter for yellow? If you don't, the voltages will be off and can cause coloured backgrounds. (This model does not auto detect a new PCDU)

Thank you for your reply. We always reset the PCDU counter everytime we replace them. All the firmwares are updated..

Is it an even background, or an assortment of dots with a pattern to it?
(in case of the pattern, this is normal)

Yes sir, it is an even background covering the whole page. It's like you're printing using a yellow colored paper.

long ago I encountered this with mpc3500 but only on copying. there is a setting on copying mode that you can set the background to lighter. you can use it to isolate your problem.

Have you checked the machine side contact for the charge roller? This sounds like the yellow drum is not being properly charged.

Don't know this model, but on metis there is a grounding plate on the pcu's if these are missing it can cause all kinds of obstructions on the print.
Please start you post with brand, model, problem.

The MP C2503 is part of the Metis line. He has already replaced the entire PCDU which is the PCU and DVU as a complete unit.

                    ground plate metis pcdu.jpg
Did you happen to build over the part in red (that is the ground plate) if you replaced pcu and developerbox as 2 units; you need to salvage this part from the old pcu.
I dont know if it is included in the complete unit.

We are fully aware about that issue coz it already happened to us. Without that "ground plate", the problem will be light copies/prints. I personally double checked physically the drum unit and transfer belt unit and installed new HV board but still not ok. We had changed 3 PCDUs (yellow) already because of this problem.

Let me restate my previous post as you have not yet answered it. "Have you checked the machine side contact for the charge roller? This sounds like the yellow drum is not being properly charged."

can I just ask what you mean by "build over the part in red". I have a call which has been escalated to me as the prints have gone light and I think drum and dev assemblies have been replaced. I assume you mean you can rebuild the unit without the red plate?

Just the opposite. You need to use the highlighted part from the old machine.
