    sharp al 1631 light copies

I HAVE A SHARP AL 1631 WITH LIGHT COPIES ON THE LEAD EDGE. IF I TURN THE MACHINE OFF THE NEXT MORNING IT MAY GIVE ME ONE OR TWO GOOD COPIES THEN IT GRADUALY GETS WORSE (BY THE 5TH COPY IT IS BAD) NEW DRUM , NEW TONER , INSTALLED.... NO LUCK. I KNOW IT HAS TO BE SOMETHING SIMPLE BUT I'M TO STRESSED TO SEE IT.

This would probably be better served if it was on the Sharp forum, but I'll take a stab at it. I actually have quite a few of these in the field as well.

When I've seen this, usually it's been a flaky toner cartridge. It takes the al-100td assembly, which is a dual-component toner/developer unit. It does have a TD sensor at the bottom of it.

I refill these for the school district all of the time, and after a while, they just decide to leak too much developer to be rebuilt. I just make the schools buy more new ones and I refill those after they go out.

I know you stated that it's a new drum and toner. Is the mag roller turning good? If is isn't, you may have a bad dv drive coupler. Also, is there a good latent image on the drum? If it is, transfer is probably the problem.

It sounds like it is either a dv drive problem, or a transfer problem.
