[Error Code] Ricoh MP C2551 (D104/D106) SC681-01/SC730/Set Fusing Unit Correctly

That is the string of messages this machine had when I arrived on the scene. At that time if I tried to access System SP mode, the machine would freeze and I'd have to reboot.

Since then we have tried a new OEM K toner bottle, RFID board, BCU and IPU. SC681-01 will not return if I leave the front door open and will allow me to access System SP mode. I tried to clear all memory with no change in symptoms. Firmware has been reflashed.

Fun note, this machine never had a finisher on it so the SC730 shift tray error shouldn't be possible.

I found this thread for the exact same model and problem but a solution was never posted. Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Cheers!

I just took a call that had a somewhat similar issue without the error codes. This customer didn't have the levers locked down so the fuser was moving freely. It was a quick fix but while I was out there my boss called me and asked if I was having any issues with it. I told him I should be done as soon as I go over the rest of the machine. He said "I was out there with another tech who had that same issue and he couldn't get the set fusing unit correctly message to clear and he was out there for a couple hours" he mentioned to me it was a sensor behind the fuser that was dirty or damaged but I wasn't sure what he meant since the only thing I know of is the plug on the back right. Maybe there is another sensor that tells it if the unit is all the way in? After he mentioned that to me I looked but saw nothing.

Had this very same call 2 weeks ago; also, do not have the Internal Finisher. I replaced the AC Power Supply (AZ240177) to resolve the problem. This same problem was posted on the Ricoh forum but again with very little feedback (and in several cases the problem returned after it was fixed once).

Physical examination of a parts machine we have shows no fusing unit insertion or rotation sensors. You might want to clean both sides of the fusing unit connector.

Change SP 3045 Toner End Detection Set to 1. That turns off the RFID detection.

SC 730 I think might be for the internal shift tray. Check to see if you have one installed. Mounts in the paper exit area and moves front and back to separate jobs and sort sets.

            Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Looks like we will end up ordering the PSU. I will update the thread when I have more information.

            Thanks again!

Replaced the PSU and the fuser message and SC730 code went away. Still have the SC681-01 so we are ordering the harness.

I will update the thread as I learn more. Thanks everyone.

PSU was the immediate fix for all the various messages. A connector to the RFID board was left disconnected when it was replaced causing the last SC to hang around.

Thanks for everyone's input on this one.
