MPC4503 faint black, colours are normal

    Hi all,

I looked at a 4503 last week with very light black prints, almost blank, the colours were all fine. I did a forced toner supply & that brought the quality back to normal, i'm guessing the TD sensor in the dev unit is faulty, i've ordered a new k dev unit. Has anyone else seen this?

    Thanks.

I worked on an mpc2500 with a similar issue, all the colors were perfect but the black was washed out or completely missing in some parts. I tried a new drum/developer and it did nothing. I initialized the id sensor and it came back to normal.

I just posted a thread on this for a 6003 but it was never published for whatever reason. I was working on a 6003 and they were getting faded black images but also smudging with heavy toner coverage. Turns out that ground plate was missing after the previous tech did the pm. But when running the checkered pattern it would leave black dots in the white squares and the black ones were faded.
Here is an example of the checkered pattern and what it was doing exactly.
